A couple of weeks ago my Dad and I planted the first of our garden-Cabbage,broccoli, onion sets and now soon potatoes.. I guess growing up on a large farm gave me the love for gardening and being outside! I love feeling the dirt between my toes and looking out on a garden full of organic, tasty vegetables. The only thing missing is a horse or two!
My family has grown a big garden since before I was born. We farmed organically on a 70 acre farm in Kentucky until I was 10, and then we moved here to Tennessee. Up until I was about 7-8 yrs old we grew organic vegetables in bulk and sold it to the local Mennonite produce stands, Also my Dad raised and farmed with Belgian horses, Although we were far from being Mennonites my Dad chose to farm as they did. Our farm was a former old order Mennonite farm. It was smack dab in the middle of one of the strictest old order Mennonite communities left in the United States. In alot of ways I really miss living there, But we moved and now I am at home and happy here in Tennessee.
Since we raised Belgian horses in Ky, I grew up around horses(BIG horses) and really miss having one. Hopefully we will be able to sell and get more land.
This is my first attempt at blogging(I've kept a Journal for almost a Year now, but never blogged), So it will probably sound like nonsense ramblings for a while until I get the hang of it!
